Professor Sandra Eades is Associate Dean (Indigenous) of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences at the University of Melbourne. Sandra has made outstanding contributions to the epidemiology of Indigenous child health in Australia, as well as national leadership in Indigenous health research. She is Australia's first Aboriginal medical doctor to be awarded a Doctorate of Philosophy (2003).  Sandra currently leads a major study of Aboriginal adolescent health and a RCT of a multi-component nurse led intervention to prevent dementia among Indigenous Australians.  
Sandra is a founding Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences, a member of Council and Chair of Fellowship selection committees (2015, 2016).  Sandra is also a member of Council with expertise in Aboriginal health for the NHMRC 2015-2018 triennium.
She has previously led a National Health and Medical Research Council Population Health Capacity Building grant that funded a research training program for five Indigenous researchers and six non-Indigenous researchers many of whom now hold leadership positions in Universities, Medical Research Institutes and Government. She continues to supervise and mentor Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal researchers making a contribution to the Aboriginal health.
