James J Robinson is an Australian/Filipino photographer and filmmaker based in Los Angeles.
James's work is regularly published by the likes of The New York Times and Vogue Australia, working with names like Kylie Jenner, Rihanna and Virgil Abloh. He has creative directed and photographed campaigns for brands like Instagram and Maison Valentino, and shot hundreds more music videos, short films and editorials along the way.
His visual work is best known for his unique approach to lighting and atmosphere - using everything from the Bible to indigenous Asian philosophy to research how we understand light and shadow, both semiotically and historically.
